I pinned this cleaner recipe twice, once here and another time here. I haven’t been using oranges that often because they make me a little congested and I didn’t just want to use the peels and throw the rest away. Then I got sick and needed my elixir of grapefruit and ginger, so I decided now was the time to make the cleaner.
I didn’t leave it in the peels for 2 weeks. It already smelled great after a few days. I’ve been cleaning things just to smell this stuff. Next time I want to put some ginger, thyme or cardamom in with it and see how that smells. I’m sure the woodier the ingredients the longer you have to let them sit.
GRAPEFRUIT SCENTED VINEGAR CLEANER
1 16 oz jar
4 grapefruit peels
vinegar to cover
Shove peels into jar, cover with vinegar. Store in cupboard until you think it’s done 3 – 14 days.
USE IT TO CLEAN
windows and surfaces: dilute 2:1 with water put in a spray bottle. spray and wipe away.
floors: add 1/4 cup to a bucket or sink of hot water. *best for vinyl and tile. don’t use on wood, it will strip it.
mold: spray with vinegar, leave for about 15 min, rinse and allow to dry.
