I’m trying to get off coffee. Don’t get me wrong I love coffee. It smells so good. It tastes good and I think it’s actually good for some people. I just think that I am way too sensitive. A half a cup will leave me jacked for hours. I’ve developed an eye twitch that won’t quit.
I think it’s going to have to go back to special occasions and maybe Sunday mornings. It makes me sad to even type that.
In an effort to have better sleep I’m also going to sew blackout lining on my curtains in my room. I think it will also help keep it from heating up too much in the late Summer afternoons. Our west facing wall just fries in the Summer sun.
I ordered the fabric from here. I’ll let you know how it goes.

June 21, 2012 at 10:23 AMGood idea. I'm a believer in blackout curtains. Make that, a believer in everything/anything that promotes sleep.
I'm (obviously) currently on the decaf and have been for a year now. Was just musing to myself whether I'd switch back to reg post-baby. Might not… reg makes me a little crazy sometimes (though I won't turn it down at the perfect moment). A super-dark (Peets) decaf seems to be enough for me, day to day.

June 21, 2012 at 10:29 AMThe eye twitch and this article http://www.christhekiwi.com/how-to-get-your-morning-mojo-back/ started it all. Seems interesting.
I was doing a decaf/reg blend for awhile, but then I just went back to the regular because Josh bitched so much about it 😉

June 21, 2012 at 8:12 PMa good decaf is soooo satisfying to me. i can't even handle that sometimes! Now i just do decaf on special occasions and it is oh so special. Let me know about the blackout curtains. I use a blackout shade in the boys' room that works great (IKEA). My new place is SO light (which is great) and the windows in my room are HUGE. I wear an eyemask (just put it on when the light starts to come in) and that does it for me…. but we don't have all of the light pollution at night up here in the boonies. I wouldn't want to wear the eye mask all night every night.

June 21, 2012 at 8:39 PMI think that the blackout would be better because if your waking up to put the mask on it's disturbing your sleep.

June 22, 2012 at 3:21 PMOh yeah. Toby won't go for decaf. But we just make separate cups using the pour-over method. Best flavor IMO. But then we don't drink more than a cup each.

June 23, 2012 at 12:46 AMHi Desi, have you started this yet and how is it going? I read the blog post from Chris the Kiwi, I don't know if I share his sentiment about earning coffee but I do believe in a good nights sleep and waking up energized. I think there is a lot Robespierre said in regards to when you wake in your sleep cycle… Have you researched this? Considered this?

June 23, 2012 at 12:49 AMRobespierre??? Damn auto correct… I meant: a lot to be said (ha!)

June 23, 2012 at 9:17 AMI'm a really good sleeper. I think that lately the planes have been waking me up slightly, (nothing that I remember) and it makes me super tired in the the morning.
I know the whole "earning thing" is a little crazy. Josh just said, "I went for a jog and now I'm going to smoke me this crack rock, because I earned it." lol.
I'm really enjoying the morning walks first thing. It helps me to wake up and I do think I feel a little more energetic as a result. I had some serious withdrawal yesterday that resulted in a crazy headache from no coffee. I'll let you know how it goes.
